Warm Spiced Apple Cider

This warming drink is great to serve when you return home from a walk or to take along in a Thermos.

Ingredients

• 

8 cups (2 L) apple cider or juice

• 

1/2 tsp (2 mL) whole cloves

• 

3 cinnamon sticks, 4-inch (10 cm) each

• 

3 star anise (optional)

• 

1 long strip orange peel

Preparation

Combine cider, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise (if using) and orange peel in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Keep warm over very low heat.

Makes 8 servings.
