Mind racing a thousand miles an hour? Can't focus on one subject? Try these three simple suggestions for slowing things down.
• Find a comfortable position and don't allow yourself to move. To concentrate more on what you're doing, you need to be comfortable. When sitting, use a cushion to support your back. Adjust chair arm supports if available. Inhale deeply and as you exhale, let the muscles of your arms and legs loosen.
• Interest your mind. Try to find new projects to focus on to help train you to concentrate better. A new hobby or a book can help.
• Make the ordinary extraordinary. Try to find something interesting even in the dullest activity. If you're at a social event, find someone and start a conversation. Be inquisitive and you may discover you have similar interests.
With these techniques your concentration and memory will improve, you'll gain greater perspective on your life, and you'll be able to think more clearly and with less effort.
