Beginning with a do-it-yourself health assessment and statement of personal goals, the book offers tools and information to help you understand your body's functions and reactions. The chapter titled The Three Beauty Robbers offers insights on how bad diet choices can show up not only internally but also externally. Diagrams and tables throughout the book list what's in your favourite foods and offer things to consider as you make diet choices, such as toxin levels found in different kinds of fish.

The makeover consists of a four-step program, which allows you to cleanse, nourish, moisturize and then maintain the changes to your health and appearance. The first step is a five-day gentle detox, in which you cleanse your body and reintroduce it to healthy bacteria. By providing lots of nutritional information, along with fast and easy meal options, Shulman ensures that your five-day detox will not feel like a month-long process. The second step introduces a "Pick 3 system of eating" which involves choosing a carbohydrate, protein and essential fat food source at every meal. The third step entitled Moisturize leads you to achieve healthy, radiant skin through proper nutrition and supplements. The final step, Maintenance, provides four basic elements to keep you on track, including tips on how to satisfy food cravings and how to eat mindfully so you don't overindulge.

In addition to the four-step makeover, Shulman provides a resource list, recipes, health optimizers and answers to common questions to arm you with the tools you need to begin your natural makeover.
