A ginger lily blooms in the Floral Colour Garden at Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park in Grand Cayman. Opened in 1994, the park is a gardener's dream, featuring a wealth of plants including those that are native to the island.
In addition to the pink, red, orange, yellow, white, blue, mauve, and lavender blooms, arranged by hue in the Floral Colour Garden, be on the lookout for the Silver Thatch palm -- its leaves were historically used in the Cayman Islands for making ropes, baskets, hats and thatched roofs. And look for the Wild Banana Orchid, the national flower of The Cayman Islands with beautiful fragrant flowers that bloom in May and June.
