If you've never been to Asia before, Thailand is the perfect place to start. Admittedly, it's a long way to fly but once you get there, you'll find a magical place boasting friendly people, lovely landscapes and food that will make your taste buds tingle. And the Canadian dollar goes far there.
Generous portions of food can cost as little as $6, while accommodations at a luxury hotel, The Pullman Bangkok King Power, for example, can be as low as $80 a night. The following photos just might entice you to consider Thailand for your next vacation. |

The Grand Palace in Bangkok is a sprawling complex, which served as the King of Thailand's official residence from the 18th century to the mid-20th century. It covers an area of over 214,000 square metres and is surrounded by protective walls. But inside those walls are dazzling structures laden with intricate jewel and mosaic work.
This spectacular site is a must-see in Bangkok but be aware of the strict dress code. The grounds are also home to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most sacred site, and visitors must abide by the rules; no bare arms or legs. You must be fully covered, even in the scorching heat. If you are inappropriately dressed when you visit, cover-up clothing is available for rent, for men and women.
