Apple and Almond Tart Recipe
Apple and Almond Tart
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups (375 mL) almonds
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) buckwheat honey
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) soft non-hydrogenated margarine, melted
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) cinnamon
- Filling:
- 4 apples
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) buckwheat honey
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) soft non-hydrogenated margarine
- 1/2 cup (125 mL) light cream cheese
- 3 tbsp (45 mL) fat-free plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) almond liqueur
- 1/2 tsp (2 mL) vanilla
Preparation
In food processor, combine almonds, honey, margarine and cinnamon; pulse until nuts are finely ground and mixture clumps together when pressed. Scrape into parchment paper-lined 9-inch/2.5 L springform pan; with damp hands, press firmly onto bottom.
Bake in 350F/180C oven until deep golden, about 10 minutes. Let cool in pan on rack.
Filling: Peel, core and slice apples; drizzle with 2 tbsp/30 mL of the honey.
In nonstick skillet over medium heat, melt margarine; add apple mixture and cook, turning, until golden and tender, about 8 minutes. Let cool.
In food processor, pulse together cream cheese, yogurt, liqueur, vanilla and remaining honey until smooth. Spread over crust. Arrange apples attractively over top. Refrigerate until filling is set, about 30 minutes. (Make-ahead: Cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.)
