Baked Brie Recipe

This hors d'oeuvre is easy and always a hit with company. Serve it with sliced apples and pears or crackers.

Ingredients

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and chopped into small chunks
1/3 cup  (75 mL)  whole roasted almonds, chopped
1/3 cup  (75 mL)  raisins or chopped apricots (about 10)
1/4 cup  (60 mL)  orange-cranberry marmalade or raspberry jam or honey
One 16 oz. (450 g) round brie cheese
Assorted crackers and sliced apples and pears for serving

Preparation

1. Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).

2. Combine the apple, almonds, raisins or apricots, and your choice of marmalade, jam, or honey in a medium-sized bowl.

3. Slice the brie round in half horizontally and place the bottom half, rind side down, in a round casserole dish.

4. Spoon half the apple mixture over the brie in the casserole dish.

5. Cover with the second half of the brie.

6. Top with the rest of the apple mixture.

7. Bake until the cheese softens around the edges, about 12 to 15 minutes.

8. Remove from the oven and serve warm.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
