I entered the site thinking foolishly there would be recipes I could actually use. I am a young mother and I don't keep shrimp handy at all. I was hoping that I would find "useful recipes" for food most people keep in their fridges. I would prefer to see more real food recipes and not the night on the town food ideas that are just not consistent with budget living.

I read the other feedback about expensive products like shrimp in recipes for day to day. I found, however, a good mix (especially the mustard sausages, though I would recommend bratwurst versus farmer's sausage). My trick to deal with many expensive seafood recipes is to mix a small amount of shrimp with the imitation crabmeat found in most supermarkets. This still is healthy, looks great, but the budget appreciates the "filler."

I suggest, for quick and easy meals, that u buy ground beef in bulk and brown with onions and favorite spices like cinammon, grnd. cloves, etc., until browned and no more pink. Then add parsley and salt and pepper, cool portion out into 1/2- to 1-cup portions into plastic freezer bag and freeze. Use in pasta sauces, with eggs, vegetables and tomato raguets and stews, etc., on french bread with any leftover cheese, etc., etc., very versatile and available when u are low on groceries or want a quick meal.

You can also find good deals on shrimp at the No-Frills stores and some of the major grocery chains. I recently picked up a bag of frozen easy peel "medium" shrimp for $4.99. Not only did the recipe feed 6 people, they got more shrimp, even though it was only 1lb, because there are more medium shrimp per pound than the large.

I would replace the shrimp in the corn and shrimp stir fry, with chicken, beef, pork...whatever I have on hand...I'm not a fan of shrimp but it is a recipe that you can be creative with and vary to your own choice of ingredients.

Thanks for the neat recipes. I do like something different, I can find the regular old ideas in any cookbook. Did not know shrimp and corn were such a great combination. Keep up the good work . . .

I foolish to think that you would have more than a few receipies considering the rest of your site is that way. You need to add lots of 5 ingredient receipies to help on low budgets.

I agree with some of the others; shrimp is not something that I would regularly keep handy. I figured that it would be recipes that had a lot of items found in the pantry and/or budget-friendly meals. We need lots more of those (budget friendly recipes), it is hard and hard to feed the family with healthly, economical foods. :) I have made some other recipes and they were quite enjoyable.

I personally would not consider chicken thighs and sausages "low on groceries". A great recipe for soup made out of a bunch of veggies forgotten in bottom of the fridge would be nice. Maybe a fools-proof casserole out of leftovers would be useful to some? I'm only suggesting but those would be recipes that I could really use.
