Do some foods truly have aphrodisiacal power? Certainly the pleasant mythology persists, especially around Feb. 14. Some delicacies, such as oysters, escargots and figs, enjoy a reputation as lovers' foods because of their sensual appearance. Others' romantic status springs from their rarity (truffles, for example); their costliness (lobster); or their addictive richness (chocolate). But do they "work"? We say forget the science and find out for yourself.
