Active ways to enjoy the season
Leave the car at home
With snow, slush and ice on the road, who wants to drive on winter roads anyway? Walk the dog, walk to work, whenever you have the option, choose your feet rather than your wheels.
Work in groups
"If you are committed to attending a social event that is fun and active, chances are, you won't cancel out. Engage in activities like skating on an outdoor rink with friends or tobogganing with the kids or taking a walk with the neighbours."
Keep a backup plan for physical activity
"Because during the holidays, your favourite activity may not be available — like your local health club or your classes — try something new outdoors."
Take time to stretch and bend
Turn holiday decorating into an opportunity to improve your flexibility. Take stretching breaks while hanging decorations, trimming the tree and cleaning those cobwebs on the ceiling.
Get on the dance floor
And lastly, Maganga advises, take advantage of the festive atmosphere. "Dance, dance, as much as you can."
