More than 1.6 million Canadians have diabetes, and more of us are diagnosed with the disease annually. The good news is that boosting your magnesium intake can help lower your risk of developing the disease by 10 to 34 per cent.

Healthy magnesium-rich foods include:
-nuts
-black beans
-whole grains
-dried fruits
-leafy green vegetables such as spinach.
