Razors, shave cream, depilatory creams and store-bought waxing kits

3. Drugstore DIY products
Budget and convenience still makes the drugstore shelves a go-to resource for many who yearn to be body-hair free. Here's what's on those shelves now.

Razors
Last year, the Schick Intuition razor was a hit for its unique shaver-plus-shave-cream head; this year, Schick Intuition Plus increases the moisturizing factor with an Advanced Moisture with Shea Butter formula, and Sensitive Care with Aloe & Vitamin E. $11.99 each.

The Gillette Venus Breeze also does away with the need for shave cream. Shave-gel bars on the edges of the razor make for smooth moves and easy navigation in tricky areas, such as behind your knees. $14.69.

Shave Cream
If you prefer your shaving lubrication separate from your razor, SC Johnson puts a little spa atmosphere in the mix with Skintimate Aromatherapy Simply Blissful Moisturizing Shave Gel. Along with hydrating ingredients, the gel contains bergamot and chamomile essential oils; 198 g, $3.99.

Depilatory Creams
No more sitting awkwardly on the closed loo waiting endlessly for thick layers of cream to dissolve the hair on your body. Veet In-Shower Hair Removal Cream and Sally Hansen Spray-On Shower-Off Hair Remover both promise hair-free body zones in three minutes. Veet, 150 mL, $8.99. Sally Hansen, 170 g, $10.99.

Wax
Canadian company Parissa offers a multi-size pack of ready-to-use wax strips you can use on your bikini area, underarms or face. $12 for 12 double-sided strips.

Nair Cire Divine makes microwaveable wax easier to bear -- the wax comes with a stir-stick temperature gauge which changes colour when the heated wax has cooled enough to apply safely. Bonus: You don't need strips to pull the wax off, so there isn't any extra waste. 400 g, $16.50.

Whatever method of hair removal you choose, maintain smooth, soft skin between sessions with regular gentle exfoliation and moisturizing. Your skin, and anyone who touches it, will thank you.
