Give pre-loved items some love and cut pollution

Picking up a wonderful vintage find is a great way to keep stuff out of landfills. Get some great suggestions for pre-loved products to seek out.

By Aileen Brabazon

It takes a lot of energy and resources to make new stuff. And in the production process, tons of pollution is produced. To lighten your impact on the earth, buy things second-hand.

You can find wonderful, pre-loved items at antique shops, garage sales, vintage clothing stores and websites such as craigslist.org and ebay.com. When you do buy new, pick up things you can reuse, such as:
-Cloth napkins
-Rechargeable batteries
-Reusable food containers (bring them when you order takeout!)
-Refillable ink cartridges for your printer
-Stainless steel water bottles
-Traveller coffee mugs
