As a merchandising representative, you will check statuses on incoming purchase orders, entering purchase order acknowledgments and maintaining good working relationships with vendor reps and contacts.

Specific duties include:

  • Provide pricing information if it is unavailable on the website and set up orders for pick-up, delivery, or shipment
  • Quote shipment prices, entering and setting up shipments and deliveries
  • Improve product knowledge by studying product information
  • Maintain vendor rep check-in file and report any problems or issues to the merchandising manager
  • Review and process all reports and order acknowledgments for product availability status and update the system with new arrival dates
  • Resolve arrival problem issues with vendors, or Homemakers Traffic/Receiving departments
  • Assist with online proofing
  • Review website for all categories, including the review of all content for quality, currency, accuracy, organization and other requirements
  • Review information on website to verify it is accurate and pertinent
  • Work with merchandising manager to improve online presentation
  • Provide feedback to management regarding efficiencies, safety and productivity
  • Follow all operational and safety procedures
  • Understand and use the internal computer system to answer any general questions
  • The above responsibilities and additional duties may vary as assigned


We are looking for a solid, reliable worker with a strong work ethic and a positive, engaging personality. You must be highly organized and detail-oriented while still being able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Specific qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience
  • Working knowledge of the internet and retail websites
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Product knowledge of furniture, rugs, accessories and related products, a plus
  • Strong verbal communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends and/or early morning hours based on business needs

Physical expectations:

  • Frequent sitting, talking and hearing
  • Occasional standing and walking
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus

Office/clerical experience:

  • Typing skills of 35 net wpm
  • Strong 10-key/data entry skills
  • Proofreading Skills

Environmental conditions:

  • Will work indoors
  • Conditions may include hot/cold temperatures, dusty surroundings and noisy work environment
