Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for side sleepers! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having an adjustable height is an excellent concept. I don't have to worry about it being too low or too high. That said, I think the inserts could be a little thinner. My ideal pillow height somewhere between no inserts and having a single insert. The biggest downside to this pillow is that it's a traditional shaped pillow with no neck support. And I'm a guy that loves to sleep on my back, so it's a little harsh. However, sleeping on my side feels amazing! If you like to sleep on your side, I think this pillow is perfect for you. Also, the rubber grid on the top of the pillow takes some getting used to. Even with a pillow cover on, I can still feel a lot of the texture. It's weird, but not really uncomfortable. Takes a bit of getting used to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE PURPLE! I was most skeptical to buy this pillow because of its high cost. I live on a fixed income so this expense was a major splurge! My sister and her husband have Purple pillows and highly recommended them. So I thought I would make the "investment" and try one. I have not been disappointed! I have tried many types of pillows over the years. This one is the only one that has lived up to its claims. I am a Purple believer and am sleeping more comfortably at night.

I love that it has adjustable height, I have another purple pillow and while I love the grid it layed too low and I always regretted not getting a taller pillow. This pillow doesnt have that issue. I also have a coop pillow, and another ergonomic pillow. This one definitely is leagues above any other pillow I've ever tried. it does smell REALLY bad. I had to let it sit coverless for like 4 days and it still kind of smells unfortunately, but the pillow itself is worth it.

I was skeptical when I received it, since I've never had a pillow this heavy or one that couldn't be flipped. I'm constantly flipping my pillow to find the cool side, so I didn't think this pillow would work for me. I couldn't have been more wrong. This puppy stays cool as a cucumber all night long while keeping my neck supported without constant fluffing. The crew at Purple knocked it out of the park with this one! I've tried many nicer/expensive pillows over the years because I deal with occasional neck and upper back pain. I can honestly say with this pillow, I haven't experienced any pain while using it. Some nights I prefer a thicker pillow and other nights I prefer a thinner one. I love that you can adjust the booster layers to get just the right support for your needs. I cannot say enough good things about the Purple DreamLayer Pillow. I want to get one for each of my family members and friends. Everyone needs to experience this level of comfort. This is a super heavy pillow but it is so comfortable , soft and adjusts so well to my head and neck. My head is not killing me when I wake up. I do not want to leave the bed when my alarm goes off. I think everyone needs this pillow. I would highly recommend this pillow and I truly think it helps me go to sleep faster at night

Personally, I am maybe a 90% back sleeper and occasionally on my side for short naps. Obviously, my experience may not be the same for everyone, but I've been buying pillows over the years because I couldn't find one that worked for me, going through Sealy, Casper, Tempur Pedic, etc. but I think I can finally stop. I've been using this for about a month now and my sleep has been much better and significantly less neck pain/stiffness. The foam is soft enough where it feels like I'm melting into it while also being firm enough to provide actual support similar to more firm material. I also like using it for back support and I work from home and am constantly in an office chair. There are two foam inserts to help change the pillow height. The only complaint I have is that if you use the inserts, it can move around so you may have to readjust the position of the inserts.

The white colored satin pillow cover comes with two adjustable boosters to adjust the height and thickness. But even after using the booster the pillow felt a bit softer. Also using two boosters increases the height too much, so I have kept one. Overall the pillow is great for someone looking for a softer pillow with less support.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Pillow but needs to be aired out before use [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked the way the pillow fills in the gap between my shoulder and head when I am sleeping on my side. I used all the inserts to make the pillow thicker. It didn't make my head hot. The only problem I had was that the pillow had a strong chemical smell from the foam. I put it in the sun for a week and it still smelled. I then decided to take it out of the covering and put the foam in the sun and it helped to get rid of the chemical smell. The pillow is super soft and heavy. I used to fold my regular pillow in half to get the height I wanted but now I can just sleep on this one. Love it except for the smell.

I have chronic neck pain and I am a stomach sleeper and this has really been helping my neck and shoulders feel better. Highly recommend trying it out!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not For Me (I Returned It) The pillow is simply TOO TALL for back sleeping and TOO SOFT for side sleeping. I really like the luxurious feel of the pillow and wanted to like it, but the value is meaningless if its not comfortable to you. The quality is very nice, however my only gripe would be the pillow case. Whoever designed that pile of garbage, go back to the drawing room ASAP. It is an absolute pain to get back on once you take it off. It's fine if you just need to slide the booster in or out, but washing it (would) have been annoying as heck. And yes there is a noticeable off-gassing smell from the purple grid which I could smell right away when resting my head on pillow for first time. I can confirm it is a problem. Return procedure is hassle free!

This one seemed promising because I could add or take away layers. I'm very pleased with the pillow and I use all of the layers. I've had it for a couple weeks now and I think I've found the one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent pillow, strong smell Bought one of these to try and was overwhelmed by the strong smell. I made the mistake of trying to wash it, which wrecked the pillow. My mistake, so I purchased a second pillow to try - and the smell is still present. I let it sit for a week to air out - still smells. I have washed the outer cover, put it in an allergy cover, put an additional pillowcase on it, and sprayed all of them with a linen scented air freshener - the smell has lessened, but it's definitely still present.

I believe it would be good for side sleepers, stomach sleepers OR back sleepers. I am currently pregnancy and tossing and turning all night but whatever position I am in I feel that this pillow does equally good jobs at supporting my head but also being soft. I love that it comes with the extra memory foam pieces so you can add or remove them to adjust the pillow to your needs-it is WAY easier than traditional foam pillows where you have to take out all the little pieces that get everywhere. Probably one of my favorite things about this pillow is that it stays cool WAY longer than any other pillow I've ever used. Whenever I move positions it is almost always noticeably cool which I love. There was a strong chemical smell for a week or two after unboxing this pillow, strong enough where I wasn't able to sleep on it but it has completely disappeared now.

Most pillows are too soft for a side sleeper or too high for a stomach sleeper. This purple pillow allows me to dial in the perfect height. The pillow comes with 2 "Shims" to tuck on the bottom side of the pillow and adjust the height. after experimenting with all 3 settings I've settled on "1" shim for me. It's amazing, and I've been waking up without any neck pain. The only issue I've had was the initial smell of the foam. If you've ever used a foam mattress before you know what' I'm referring to. However, it dissipated after a couple of nights and I'd recommend that anyone air it out fully before they use it.

I am a stomach sleeper and am very picky about my pillow. I can say I have now found my new favorite pillow. I was unsure about the gel grid on the pillow, but I love it. It help the pill conform to you and helps keep you cool. It was super easy to adjust the thickness to a good height for me. You just pull off the cover and slide a pad in or out to your thickness. It is also the perfect hardness, soft enough to put your arms under but hard enough to keep you neck level. I will be buying my wife too because she tried it one night and said she was going to take it from me because she liked it too.

I have a very hard time finding the right height pillow for sleep. We've tried all sorts of different ones and were most recently using the Casper original, BUT this one is MUCH better! The height options work great. Making this super adjustable for anyone. I will be purchasing two for our guest bedroom. I highly recommend this pillow for people who sleep on their back and it even works on my side too.
