I attempted to use both boards and tried switching each e and f piece as well. It does Sit lower than I would like but that’s my fault for not doing research on height. Regardless I was disappointed the parts were not made to assemble correctly and the extra time I spent trying to make it work

One piece of advice if you don’t have it built by Ashley, make sure to look in the headboard for all the necessary parts in instructions:) they are zipped into the headboard and we thought I only received the headboard🤣And definitely need a thicker box spring, no less than 8inches!
