I bought it so my dog could lay between my legs like he likes, without harming or damaging the footrest, as he did with my recliner (die to gain I g weight as he grew out of being a puppy.) He likes it, I love it, and I can't sit in it without falling asleep within just a few minutes! I find myself thinking about getting off work and relaxing in the chair and I've NEVER done that before! I highly recommend the chair!
