Design trends may seem like moving targets, but there’s a consistent desire for interiors that feel calm, elevated, and effortlessly livable. Today’s most enduring palettes lean into cooler, softened tones with gentle warmth underneath colors that reflect light beautifully while still adding dimension.

Rather than leaning heavily into seasonal decor, these palettes work year-round, adapting seamlessly across evolving styles and spaces. Homemakers Furniture hopes to inspire with a few  examples from our Berkshire Hathaway sister company, Benjamin Moore.

1. French Country Revival: Soft Blues, Muted Greens & Aged Neutrals

French Country continues to evolve into something lighter and more refined, less rustic, more collected. The palette leans on washed blues, dusty greens, and creamy whites that feel timeworn rather than trendy.

Benjamin Moore pairings:

These tones layer beautifully with natural woods, stone, and antique finishes, reinforcing a sense of quiet elegance.

2. Modern Farmhouse (Refined): Warm Whites & Soft Greiges

Modern farmhouse has matured, moving away from high-contrast black and white toward warmer, more tonal neutrals.

Think:

  • Soft whites
  • Subtle greiges
  • Light taupes with warmth

Benjamin Moore colors to include:

  • White Dove OC-17; a go-to soft white that works in nearly any light
  • Pale Oak OC-20; a warm greige with a hint of softness
  • Edgecomb Gray HC-173, a versatile neutral that bridges gray and beige

The result is a space that feels clean, but never cold. Inviting rather than stark.

3. Coastal Transitional: Airy Blues & Gray-Greens

Coastal design has shifted away from overt nautical themes toward something more subtle and architectural. The palette focuses on sea-washed hues and mineral-inspired tones.

A key trend here is the rise of gray-green blends, valued for their calming, adaptable nature.

Benjamin Moore colors to feature:

  • Palladian Blue HC-144; a classic blue-green with timeless appeal
  • Sylvan Mist CSP-740; light, airy, and slightly etherea
  • Gray Sky 2131-50; a soft, atmospheric neutral

These colors pair effortlessly with linen, oak, and woven textures.

4. Old Money/Quiet Luxury: Layered Neutrals & Soft Depth

“Quiet luxury” continues to dominate. favoring understated, tonal palettes over bold contrast. Designers are leaning into warm ivories, soft browns, and muted blush undertones that feel elevated but approachable.

Old Money colors by Benjamin Moore:

  • Porcelain 2113-60; calm, refined, and slightly romantic
  • Classic Gray OC-23; a barely-there neutral that layers seamlessly
  • Ballet White OC-9; a warm, creamy backdrop

These tones create depth through layering rather than contrast for a timeless, high-end feel.

5. Heritage-Inspired / English Cottage: Dusty Pastels & Botanical Tones

This look leans into nostalgia but in a restrained, updated way. Colors are softly pigmented, slightly muted, and grounded with gray undertones.

Benjamin Moore colors to incorporate:

These shades feel romantic without becoming overly sweet, especially when balanced with wood tones and vintage pieces.

Bringing It All Together

Across styles, the shift is clear:

  • Cooler palettes are softened with warmth
  • Colors are muted, layered, and adaptable
  • Interiors prioritize timelessness over trend-driven statements

Whether you lean French Country, modern farmhouse, or something more transitional, the key is choosing colors that respond beautifully to light and evolve with your space over time.
