Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great mattress! But... I do recommend the mattress. It's fantastic. But unless you have the pillows to go with it the pain will remain. You'll forget about any lower back pain but you'll start to notice just how stiff your neck is after sleeping with a regular pillow. Bottom line. If you're ready for the insane comfort of the mattress be sure to budget for those pillows too otherwise you'll notice headaches and pain from the place that does not have the luxury of touching the purple technology.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only buy as a short term solution..... Always read the lowest ratings before the highest. This mattress was good for 2 years. I bought the queen size + model. The edges are severely sagging. Not good for a couple or person 200+ lbs. Only by if you're okay with mattress shopping within every three years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was fine for about 4-5 years When we first got the mattress, we loved it. It was fantastic for the first few years. Then, about 4-5 years after we purchased it, there was a noticeable sagging and general deterioration of quality. I typically would expect a mattress to endure for 7-10 years, and this was about half of that. So overall? It was okay: Wonderful for about 50 months, and then the cause of back issues after that point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very supportive, so happy I went for it Like many, I was very hesitant about Purple because of the high price, but after a windfall I decided to bite the bullet. I was very nervous that I wouldn't like it or that it would be "just okay" but I was thrilled with how much I love it. It's just squishy enough while still being very supportive. I don't usually sleep in one particular position, I constantly turn between stomach, side, and back, so it can be hard to find something that's soft enough for side sleep yet firm enough for stomach sleep, and the Purple nails it- I can get totally comfortable in any position. My previous mattress also made my lower back sore as it would cause it to arch uncomfortably, but on my back on the Purple I feel fully supported. For what it's worth, I'm about 5'4" 135 lbs. I really feel like it's cradling me when I'm in bed. Finally, one of the main things that drew me to Purple was the breathability- I run very hot when I sleep and before it was common for me to wake up in the middle of the night sweating. I can say that has significantly decreased since switching to Purple, which has been a huge relief. Overall I'm super happy with my purchase. Now all that's left is hoping it lasts for a decade or more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One year review Waited a year to review the original purple mattress. I'm a stomach sleeper and love it and my girlfriend is a side sleeper and also enjoys it. We both weigh 120-140 lbs and don't sink at all so it leaves even pressure everywhere. Sleeps pretty cold. It is really good about limiting the movement, my 80lbs dog once jumped on the bed without me even knowing. Only complaint and why it's 4/5 stars is I sleep more towards the edge of the mattress and I can tell it doesn't support like it use to....

For a heavy person, 450 lbs, I was always concerned about the correct mattress and frame to support me. Pillow toppers always left me sweating no matter the temperature.The Purple Mattress and frame have the support as well as the pockets that allow me to remain cool. Purple sheets were an added plus because they stretch with me. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" and I don't regret paying for a great nights rest on My Purple Mattress.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Night's Sleep After months of researching (and agonizing) over which mattress to buy, I decided on the Purple mattress over the competition. I was really intrigued by the honeycomb top layer and had read in some reviews that it helped with pressure points such as shoulders and hips (I have broad shoulders) without sacrificing support which is exactly what I need. I am also a hot sleeper and thought the honeycomb would allow better air disbursement and thus keep me cooler throughout the night which it has done. And I went with the regular Purple, not the hybrid, because I am 110 lbs and felt the hybrid would be too firm for me. The redesigned edges hold up just fine. So far, I am really liking my Purple mattress and am very happy with my choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good... The feel of this mattress is hard to describe. It is the softest, firm mattress I have ever felt. (I know what I said...) I have yet to find an uncomfortable position. I weigh about 145 Lbs. and I don't sink into this mattress like I expected to, but instead, I kind of float on top of it. Again, it is hard to describe...I can say I have been sleeping on this mattress every night for almost a month and I am starting to feel more refreshed in the AM. So, in conclusion: So far So good....

My husband and I both have a rare bone disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) also known has brittle bone disorder. We are both very small and very light. I am 3'6" and I weigh less than 60 lbs., and my husband is even smaller. One of the central issues with having OI, especially moderately severe OI as we both have, is scoliosis. I have had two spinal fusions, and in this last fusion I was fused to my pelvis. Every part of my body feels different, each arm is different and each hip is different. This mattress supports all the bends, curves, gaps, and tight spaces in my body. Due to the malrotation of my pelvis, I normally do not make sheer contact with any surface against my back, but this mattress actually supports all the spaces other mattress cannot meet. I talked with other friends who have OI before buying this mattress, and countless others with brittle bone disorder highly recommend this product. I will never sleep on anything else again. I truly urge anyone who needs a gentle, supportive mattress to buy Purple. There are virtually no pressure points created when I lie down. I also find this material easy to turn side-to-side on, as this can be difficult for me without having something to pull on. For chronic pain, lumbar, and pelvis issues - this is the beset mattress out there! If you have any orthopedic issues - this is the best mattress out there! Also, the base frame is really good for wheelchair users. My husband does not ambulate, and needs to be able to transfer side-to-side from his power wheelchair to the bed. This frame is the right height for him to get his wheelbase under the frame to get as close as possible to transfer. Thankfully we will no longer need bed risers on our bedframe! Thank you Purple for creating a life changing product!

I've suffered from chronic sciatica and hip pain for over a decade and have spent about that long trying to find a mattress that wouldn't aggravate my pains. Purple seems to be that mattress as I've had it for about a month now and no longer feel as if my mattress is working against me when I try to sleep. I would (and have) recommended Purple to my friends and family. Good mattress.

I was nervous after reading reviews that the mattress felt firm especially if you were on the lighter side; however, I felt it super soft and cushy and weight 110 lbs. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My body is feeling better We ordered the king-sized original purple, the mattress protector, the stretchy sheets, and the pillows. It's been thirty days or so and my overall body pain has gone down significantly (I'm 5'5", 115 lbs.) I was sold after two nights. My husband is still adjusting, (6'4", 195 lbs), but he says that he is sleeping better than before, and we had a nice mattress previously. I sleep very hot and since we switched, I've actually started using a blanket (it's July and in the nineties). I love the sheets. It would be nice if the top sheet was slightly wider because occasionally one of us yanks it, but the coolness and the comfort are worth it for me, especially on my face. The pillows are amazing and have helped my neck a ton. I don't think I've had a headache since I started. I'm also sleeping more soundly, so as long as my ADHD is controlled, I fall asleep faster and stay that way. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and some people said the mattress is a weird sensation. I expected that, so it wasn't hard to adjust. I actually kind of look forward to going to sleep at night. If purple could just do something about my neighbor's dogs... :) Purple, if you ever want to branch out, I would seriously buy a purple recliner. I'm an author and I spend a bunch of time each day on my laptop in an uncomfortable recliner. Or if you want a review, you can send me a free one. ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving this mattress I've been dealing with serious lower back pain for several years and decided to give purple a try. I'm able to get a good night's sleep again. My pain level in the morning is much lower. For me, I'd call the mattress on the softer side of medium...I'm about 150 lbs. It's a bit like floating instead of sinking...if you've been in pain trying to get out of a sinking bed, you know how awful that is. This doesn't happen to me on the purple. I'd highly recommend giving purple a try...it is different, but for me it is a game changer.

I am a side sleeper (115 lbs) and my husband is a back/side/stomach sleeper (155 lbs). So we have multiple sleeping needs, and the original Purple meets them all!

I'm a little disappointed as the support isn't as good as I expected, sometimes I wake i up with my back a little sore. We got the mid firm maybe full firm would have been better.

It felt fine for both of us during the 100 day trial, but now my whole body is constantly achy. We don't know what to do anymore. Can't keep wasting money and trying new mattresses. These mattresses don't work for us. The pro I would say to this mattress brand is it doesn't lose its shape

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's okay All the hype about Purple (and the cost) lead me to expect something incredible. It didn't quite deliver. I sleep well on it, but it's nothing special. At first, it's quite underwhelming actually. It's just not terribly comfortable in the traditional sense - it has kind of a cheap feel compared to other mattresses in this price range. Here's the test for me: Getting into bed at the end of a long day doesn't have that "wow" factor. That said, it does provide good support and avoid pressure points. I find myself sleeping more soundly than on my older worn out mattress. I don't get up in the morning with any noticeable stiffness. My hope is that this material holds up better over time than traditional mattresses or memory foam and I don't regret the price I paid for it in three years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Initially comfortable, but huge dips after 3-4 years At first this was a very comfortable bed, probably a little too soft for us, but not the worst. As time went on, we noticed the body imprints getting worse. We trade sides every night and have turned the mattress often, we even oriented our Cal King so that we sleep on it lengthwise. We still have deep imprints and a hill in the middle that makes it really difficult to get comfortable and stay comfortable through the night.
