This is sort of like the goldilocks bed, it is at both times soft yet somewhat firm (so you don't sink into it like jello) but doesn't feel like you are laying on a brick that has no give. If you like medium, but are more on the plus side, get this one for sure. It does conform a bit over time as you sleep on it but in a nice way not where it feels like you sink into it, but rather molded to you and comfortable. And it never feels like you are sagging. just a few months in but love it so far. Highly recommend.

I have the pillow top firm and it is lumpy in the middle and sinks where you sleep and only had this one month! I believe this is the worst I have ever slept on and hopefully can get something else! Sales lady talked me into a firm which I normally hate!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, firm but not too firm Purchased another Stearns mattress and within 6 months it sank 2", I had to file a claim and this is the second one I purchased. The other was discontinued so I was at first worried about a firm pillow top that my store had but one nights sleep was good. I have severe back pain and needing a hip replacement in 2 months. So far feels great. Wasn't too firm. Comfortable to sleep in. Hoping this one will last! Can't say yet if it helps with pain because I'm in a lot of pain but I know the last one was great at first.

I bought a different brand, but I woke up with lower back pain way too often. So recently, I decided I was going to buy another Stearns and Foster, and my back pain is gone. I will never buy another mattress!

I found that this worked best for both me and my wife; average weight around 130 lbs. Sterns and Foster has a good reputation and builds quality mattresses. They also have a great financing plan. Can't go wrong with a purchase of this mattress. David B.

With a new hip I found it was like sleeping in a hammock. My new mattress is wonderful, no more hammock feel but a luxuriously firm mattress that allows me to sleep comfortably and longer.

My only issue I have is that I did not receive any paperwork that told anything about the warranty although I did register it online. I don't know for how long it is under warranty. Do to its firm support it is easier to move around on the bed. We do greatly enjoy the new mattress.

Even though it is supposed to be "firm", the pillow top makes it more difficult to move around on and get off of the mattress. Apparently, just lying on it in the store doesn't provide a good feel for the mattress in daily use. In hind-sight, I believe I should not have chosen the pillow top style. Considering the cost, I would rethink the whole process.

It is most difficult to lift while placing a fitted mattress protector and fitted sheet. I wish I would have be appraised of this in the store. It is not practical for anyone with ordinary strength. I noticed the delivery men even had difficulty lifting it to remove the plastic covering. What do you suggest?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny I have been coping with back and hip pain for two years and realized it was my 8yr old memory foam mattress, after traveling and sleeping in hotel beds for a period of time. I decided to shop for a new bed and tried about two dozen mattresses. This particular mattress was like resting on a cloud in the showroom...and after the first night sleeping on it at home, I woke up with no back or hip pain. Now, about a month later...still pain free!! I didn't love the price, but overall worth the investment.

In the store where I was shopping, the only one with the pillow top was the "soft" and I neglected to ask if the med firm came with a pillow top. After sleeping on my new mattress for a couple of weeks, I think the med firm with a pillow top would have been the perfect mattress for me, but I am sleeping pretty well on this one, even though when turning over, I awaken a bit as I am sunk in a bit more and it makes turning an effort which occasionally awakens me. Not a fault of the mattress, it's just my experience.

Quality in workmanship is self evident and the comfort it provides is amazing. The registration process was clear and easy to manage. All around a great experience with this bed. Sales personnel were easy to work with, and no pressure what so ever. Very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions prior to purchase.
