Purple Haze Frozen Yogurt

Luscious dark berries make a super frozen yogurt without much added sweetener.

Ingredients

• 

2 cups (500 mL) blackberries

• 

2 cups (500 mL) blueberries

• 

1/3 cup (75 mL) liquid honey

• 

1-1/3 cups (325 mL) Balkan-style (full fat) or 2% yogurt

Preparation

In blender, whirl together blackberries, blueberries and honey until smooth; add yogurt and blend. Into bowl of ice-cream machine, strain through fine sieve, discarding solids; freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. (Or strain into metal cake pan; freeze until almost solid, about 1-1/2 hours, then break up and purée in food processor. Scrape into airtight container and freeze until firm, about 4 hours.)

Nutritional information

Per 1/4 cup (60 mL): about 79 cal, 2 g pro, 2 g total fat (2 g sat. fat), 15 g carb, trace fibre, 5 mg chol, 16 mg sodium. % RDI: 5% calcium, 2% iron, 2% vit A, 13% vit C, 5% folate.
