The ancient Egyptians and Romans considered arugula:

The ancient Egyptians and Romans considered arugula:
  • an aphrodisiac
  • a healing property
  • a poisonous plant
  • highly valuable

Answer:

It may be an aphrodisiac, but today we consider it one of the healthiest foods available. It is packed with folic acid, vitamin A, calcium, carotenoids, lutein, zeaxanthin and vitamin K (necessary for clotting and developing strong bones). Also, one cup of arugula contains only five calories.

Try arugula in one of the following recipes:

-Arugula and Bocconcini Pasta

-Onion and Gorgonzola Pizza with Arugula

-Arugula and Beefsteak Salad with Tomato Vinaigrette
