Recipe
Fruit Salad with Chat Masala
Use assorted fruit such as cubed honeydew, cantaloupe or watermelon; peach, mango or nectarine; banana, kiwi, apple or pear slices. Chat masala is available ready-made at Indian grocers, but you can make your own fresh version of this spice mixture, which includes the sulphurous Indian black salt and the sour green mango powder amchoor (the recipe makes enough for numerous uses – try sprinkling it over roasted peanuts or cashews for a treat). If you can't shop for these spices at an Indian grocers, simply sprinkle the fruit with salt, cayenne pepper and a touch of garam masala along with a squirt of lemon or lime juice.
