Mangoes fight lung disease

Mangoes fight lung disease

There are cancer-fighting compounds in the produce department of your local grocery store. Find out why you should pick up some brightly coloured fruits and vegetables on your next trip to the grocer's.

By Heather Camlot

A easy way to help prevent lung cancer is as close as the produce section of your grocery store.

Studies have shown that eating orange and yellow fruits and vegetables can reduce your risk of developing lung cancer by up to 25 per cent. That's because these foods get their colour from carotenoids, cancer-fighting compounds.

You can boost the carotenoids in your diet by snacking on:
-oranges
-mangoes
-carrots
-red peppers
-tangerines
-sweet potatoes
-peaches

Learn more about the health benefits of your favourite fruits and vegetables, and how they can help fight a range of diseases in 10 fruits and vegetables to add to your grocery cart.
