The best of Disneyland travel

Unless you're taking your kids or grandkids on a holiday, perhaps Disneyland hasn't made its way into your list of vacation destinations. But maybe now it's time to consider this magical amusement park as so much more than a kids-only getaway.

Disneyland is an escape for adults and children alike and, no matter how old you are, there's no reason why you should miss a trip to this mecca of fun. The following eight tips will inspire you to make Disneyland your next vacation destination.

1. Restaurants
Disneyland is home to fine dining and food that is nothing short of gourmet. It's not just hot dogs and ice cream on the menu. Try Napa Rose, located in Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, for an experience that proves that Disney offers something for everyone, even if what you're looking for is a sophisticated and elegant dining experience.

The seasonal dishes you'll find on the menu feature many fresh, local ingredients from California's coast, farmlands and vineyards and the decidedly adult atmosphere may be a welcome respite from a day spent with Mickey and friends.

To book reservations, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-DINE, or (714) 781-3463.

2. Shopping
If rollercoasters aren't your thing, maybe shopping is! Disneyland has lots on offer and strolling through the quaint shops is a great way to spend a day.

Inside the park, you'll find lots of specialty boutiques; definitely check out the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Main Street Magic Shop. But when you've had your fill of Disney merchandise, stroll along the promenade of the Downtown Disney District outside the park where you'll find stores like Sephora, QuikSilver and the Anne Geddes flagship store.

3. Theatre
Disneyland is home to world-class theatre. While visiting, I was fortunate enough to catch a showing of Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. And spectacular it was!

The 40-minute show is action-packed, featuring an enormously talented cast and a script that had the audience laughing from start to finish. It's an experience you won't forget. Check out the entertainment schedule to find out what's playing when you visit.
