Redecorate Like a Cyclone with the Iowa State Men's Basketball Team
Homemakers is proud to be partnering with the We Will Collective. The We Will Collective is a non-profit organization for all things NIL-related for Iowa State University. The club supports student athletes to use resources and opportunities that haven't been accessible to past Cyclones. The club will help student athletes with NIL relationships such as promotion/endorsements, speaking opportunities, special events, and meet and greets. Through this opportunity the athletes will gain experience and exposure while benefiting them financially.
“It was fun, I got to see a lot of things that I liked, got to talk to some good people,” said Tre King, a senior forward.
Twelve members of the Men’s Basketball team were invited to shop the Homemakers showroom floor and use their gift cards to purchase furniture for their apartments, enjoy cookies at HomeGrounds and collaborate with our social media team.
“I’m a simple guy, I don’t do a lot of decorations and stuff,” said King. “I like to stick with one or two colors, very minimal, I might put up like a painting or something, but other than that I’ll have a lamp and maybe some little lights or something.”
The student athletes spent the afternoon shopping for things like bedding, mattresses, bed frames and dressers.
Kayden Fish, a freshman forward, remembers shopping with his mom growing up.
“You know my mom likes to furniture shop a lot, so I’ve been through a bunch of furniture stores and buy nothing, we’ve been through the whole thing and buy nothing,” laughed Fish.
Homemakers is proud to support these student-athletes by gifting the group the Ashley Altari sofa, Ashley Wadeworth tables, and a $1,500 gift card was donated to each athlete from the We Will Collective. They came in the store on June 21 to redeem their gift card.
